Entry Fee Terms
Last updated: September 2026
1. What an entry fee pays for
An entry fee for a tournament listed on Racket Ratings buys organising services: venue or court hire, shuttles and balls, umpiring and officials, and event administration. It is a payment for those services and nothing else.
2. No prizes of value
A tournament that charges an entry fee on Racket Ratings does not offer prizes of monetary or material value, whoever pays for them and however they are paid. This is a condition of paid entry on this platform, and every organiser agrees to it before they can price an event.
- Allowed: medals, trophies and certificates of modest value, and ranking points, which have no monetary value.
- Not allowed: cash or prize money paid in any way (including PayNow or bank transfer, during or after the event), vouchers, gift cards, credits, equipment or other goods of value — whether funded from entry fees, a sponsor or the organiser’s own money.
- An organiser who breaks this may have their events removed, their payments disabled, and their connected payment account closed. If a paid event offers you a prize of value, please tell us.
3. Who you are paying
When you pay an entry fee you are paying the organiser of that tournament, not Racket Ratings. The organiser is the merchant of record: their name appears on your statement, the money goes to their account, they run the event, and they issue any refund. Racket Ratings provides the listing and the payment rails, and takes a commission from the organiser.
4. Refunds
Each tournament sets its own refund terms, which are shown to you before you pay and again before you withdraw. If a tournament sets no refund terms, entry is non-refundable when you choose to withdraw. Those terms cover you changing your mind; they do not apply when the organiser cancels the event, which is covered in section 7. Once the draw has been made and you have a match, withdrawal is the organiser's decision rather than yours.
Refunds are returned to the card or account you paid with. Where an event passed payment processing costs on to you, refunds are calculated on the organiser's entry fee and not on that processing charge, because the payment processor does not return it.
5. Tax
Organisers are responsible for any GST or other tax due on their own entry fees, for registering where they are required to, and for issuing any invoice or receipt their own tax position requires. Racket Ratings does not account for tax on an organiser's behalf.
6. Our commission
Racket Ratings charges the organiser a commission on each paid entry. Where a refund is issued, our commission on the refunded amount is returned to the organiser in proportion. Payment processing fees charged by the payment processor are not returned on a refund, and are borne by the organiser.
7. If an organiser cancels an event
If an organiser cancels a tournament, you are entitled to the full amount you paid, whatever the withdrawal terms in section 4 say. Those terms govern you changing your mind, not the event failing to happen. Racket Ratings returns its commission in full on a cancelled event.
You should know how that money is held. The organiser receives your payment into their own account and issues any refund from it. Racket Ratings does not hold entry fees, does not control when an organiser withdraws them, and does not guarantee that a refund will be paid. If an organiser cannot fund refunds for an event they cancelled, your claim is against that organiser.
8. If something goes wrong
Contact the organiser first. They hold your payment and can refund it directly, which is almost always the quickest route. If you cannot reach them, or an event did not happen as described, contact us — we can help resolve it, remove listings, and disable payments for an organiser where that is warranted.
You may also dispute a payment with your bank or card issuer. A dispute is decided between your issuer and the organiser's payment processor. Because the organiser is the merchant of record and not Racket Ratings, we cannot decide the outcome, though we will provide the event records we hold.
