Organiser Payment Terms
Version 2026-09-23 · Effective 23 September 2026
These terms are a binding agreement between you and Racket Ratings (“Racket Ratings”, “we”, “us”). They apply whenever you charge an entry fee through Racket Ratings, and you must accept them before you can. Read them in full. If you do not agree, do not charge entry fees through Racket Ratings — free registration remains available.
The rule that matters most: a tournament that charges an entry fee through Racket Ratings may offer medals, trophies, certificates and ranking points only. It must never offer cash, PayNow transfers, vouchers, gift cards, equipment or any other prize of monetary or material value — from any source, paid in any way. See section 5.
1. Who these terms bind
“You” means the organiser account that accepts these terms, the merchant recorded in its Organiser settings (a club, organisation or individual), and the person who accepts on the merchant’s behalf. A “paid event” is any tournament or event for which an entry fee is charged through Racket Ratings. An “entrant” is anyone who registers for a paid event.
The person accepting confirms that they are at least 18 years old; that they are authorised to bind the merchant to these terms (for a club or society, under its constitution or by a decision of its committee); and that everything they have told Racket Ratings and Stripe is true, complete and kept up to date. A person who accepts without that authority is personally bound by these terms as if they were the merchant.
If control of the organiser account passes to someone else, the new administrator must accept these terms again before charging entry fees. The previous merchant remains responsible for every paid event, entry fee, refund and chargeback from the time it was the merchant.
2. Our role, and what we are not
Racket Ratings provides software: event listings, registration, draws, results, rankings, and a technical connection to your own Stripe account so that you can take payment.
- We are not the organiser, promoter, host or operator of your events, and we are not a party to the contract between you and your entrants. That contract is between you and each entrant.
- You are the merchant of record for every entry fee. We are not a bank, escrow agent, trustee or payment service provider. Entry fees are paid directly into your own Stripe account; we do not receive, hold or control them, other than the commission Stripe deducts for us.
- We do not guarantee any payment, payout, refund, event, entrant or result, or that Stripe will accept your account or any transaction.
- Nothing in these terms creates a partnership, joint venture, employment or fiduciary relationship between you and us. You must not state or imply that Racket Ratings runs, endorses or guarantees your events.
3. Stripe
Payment processing services for organisers on Racket Ratings are provided by Stripe and are subject to the Stripe Connected Account Agreement, which includes the Stripe Terms of Service (collectively, the “Stripe Services Agreement”). By agreeing to these terms or continuing to operate as an organiser on Racket Ratings, you agree to be bound by the Stripe Services Agreement, as the same may be modified by Stripe from time to time. As a condition of Racket Ratings enabling payment processing services through Stripe, you agree to provide Racket Ratings accurate and complete information about you and your business, and you authorise Racket Ratings to share it and transaction information related to your use of the payment processing services provided by Stripe.
- You must comply at all times with Stripe’s Prohibited and Restricted Businesses list, Stripe’s other policies and all card network rules. Where these terms are stricter than Stripe’s rules, these terms apply.
- Stripe processes your personal data in accordance with the Stripe Privacy Policy.
- Under its own agreement with you, Stripe may refuse, reverse or hold payments, require a reserve, recover amounts from you, or suspend or close your account. We do not control those decisions and are not responsible for them.
- Your Stripe account is yours. You are responsible for keeping it secure, for Stripe’s fees, and for any negative balance, reserve or amount Stripe recovers.
4. What an entry fee may pay for
An entry fee is payment for organising services and nothing else: venue or court hire, shuttles and balls, equipment used to run the event, umpires and officials, first aid, insurance, administration, the recognition awards section 5 permits, and your own reasonable charge for organising the event.
Your event listing must describe accurately what the entry fee covers, the full price payable, and every material condition of entry.
5. No prizes of value — strictly prohibited
This is the most important rule in these terms. Breaking it puts card payments at risk for every organiser on Racket Ratings, not only for you.
A paid event must not offer, promise, advertise or award any prize of monetary or material value, whoever pays for it and however it is paid. This includes:
- cash or prize money paid in any way — including by PayNow, bank transfer or in hand, and including after the event;
- vouchers, gift cards, store credit, stored value, cryptoassets, or anything else that can be exchanged for money;
- rackets, equipment, merchandise, electronics or any other goods of value;
- a prize pool of any kind, including one that grows with the number of entrants.
It makes no difference that a prize is funded from your own money, a sponsor or a club budget rather than from entry fees, or that it is paid outside Racket Ratings, or after you have withdrawn your takings. Stripe’s rules concern the competition as a whole: a competition that charges an entry fee and offers a prize of value is restricted however the prize is paid. Using entry fees to fund any prize — directly or indirectly, in whole or in part — is also a separate and serious breach in its own right.
Recognition only. A paid event may offer only recognition awards: trophies, medals and certificates of modest value with no resale or cash value, and Racket Ratings ranking points and ratings, which have no monetary value and cannot be exchanged for anything. Even these are permitted only for as long as Stripe accepts them. We may withdraw this permission at any time, and you must follow our instructions if we do.
No gambling or chance. You must not use Racket Ratings, or any paid event, for betting, wagering, lotteries, lucky draws, raffles, sweepstakes, fantasy competitions or any game of chance; you must not allow betting on the matches of a paid event; and you must not run any activity that requires a licence, class licence or exemption under Singapore’s Gambling Control Act 2022.
Cash-prize events stay off Racket Ratings. You must not use Racket Ratings — including a free listing — to list, advertise, register players for or otherwise promote any event that offers cash or prizes of monetary or material value, and you must not link a paid event to such an event (for example by making a paid event a qualifier for it, or advertising it in your listing). Any such event must be run entirely outside Racket Ratings, without Racket Ratings or your connected Stripe account, and you alone are responsible for its legal and payment obligations.
These restrictions apply unless we have given you our prior written approval for a specific event. We will not give it without Stripe’s prior written approval, and approval for one event is not approval for any other.
Records. Keep records of each paid event’s income and expenses, and of every award given, for at least five years, and give them to us within seven days if we ask. We may share them with Stripe.
If you break this section, we may immediately remove your events, disable paid entry, cancel registrations and issue refunds to entrants under section 7, close your account, and report the matter to Stripe and the authorities. You must also indemnify us under section 13.
6. Your events and your entrants
- You alone organise and run your events and are responsible for them: the venue, schedule, format, eligibility, officials, conduct, safety, first aid, insurance, and compliance with venue rules and the law.
- You must deliver each paid event as described. You must not make false or misleading claims, and you must show the full price — including any fees passed on to entrants — before an entrant pays.
- You must respond promptly to entrants’ questions and complaints, and keep your contact details accurate.
- If an entrant is under 18, you must obtain the consent of their parent or guardian where the law or your event requires it.
- You are responsible for any injury, loss or damage suffered by anyone at or in connection with your events, except to the extent it is caused by our own negligence.
7. Refunds, cancellations and chargebacks
- You set each paid event’s refund policy. It is shown to entrants before they pay, and you must honour it.
- If you cancel a paid event, move it substantially, or it does not take place as described, you must refund every entrant in full — promptly, and in any event within 14 days — whatever your refund policy says.
- Refunds, chargebacks, dispute fees and reversals are paid from your Stripe account. You must keep enough money available to cover them until each event has taken place and the time for disputes has passed. Racket Ratings does not hold your money, does not fund refunds on your behalf, and does not guarantee that any refund will be paid.
- You must respond to disputes and chargebacks promptly and truthfully. We will provide the event records we hold if you ask, but we cannot decide the outcome.
- Stripe’s processing fees are not returned on a refund and are borne by you. Where a refund is issued, our commission on the refunded amount is returned to you in proportion; on an event you cancel, our commission is returned in full.
- You authorise us to send refund instructions to Stripe for your paid events: when you cancel an event or refund an entry through Racket Ratings; when an entrant withdraws within your refund policy; when a paid entry cannot be given a place; and when an event does not take place or is removed for breach of these terms.
8. Our fees
- We charge a commission on each paid entry, shown to you when you set the entry fee. Stripe deducts it from each payment on our behalf. Stripe also charges its own processing fees.
- We may change our commission on 30 days’ notice. A change applies only to events priced after it takes effect.
- Our commission is not refundable except as section 7 states.
9. Tax
You are solely responsible for determining, collecting, reporting and paying any GST, income tax or other tax on your entry fees, for registering where you are required to, and for issuing any invoice or receipt. Racket Ratings does not account for tax on your behalf.
10. Compliance with the law
You must comply with every law that applies to your events and your use of paid entry, including in Singapore:
- the Gambling Control Act 2022;
- the Consumer Protection (Fair Trading) Act 2003, including its rules on price transparency;
- the Personal Data Protection Act 2012;
- the Goods and Services Tax Act 1993 and the Income Tax Act 1947;
- the Payment Services Act 2019 — you must not use Racket Ratings to collect money for anyone else or to provide any payment service;
- the Charities Act 1994 and its fund-raising rules — entry fees must not be described or used as donations or for a fund-raising appeal;
- the Societies Act 1966 and your own constitution, if the merchant is a club or society;
- the Corruption, Drug Trafficking and Other Serious Crimes (Confiscation of Benefits) Act 1992, the Terrorism (Suppression of Financing) Act 2002, and applicable sanctions.
You must not use paid entry for anything other than entry to a genuine event you organise, split or disguise transactions, take payments on someone else’s behalf, or process a payment you know or suspect to be fraudulent. You must hold every permit and permission your events need.
11. Personal data
- You may use entrants’ personal data only to run your events, and must handle it in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act 2012. You must not sell it, or use it for unrelated marketing without consent.
- You must never ask an entrant for card details. Payment is taken only through Stripe.
- We record each acceptance of these terms — who accepted, the name typed, which version, when, and the IP address and browser used — as evidence of the agreement, and we keep that record after your account closes.
12. Suspension, removal and termination
- We may act at any time, without notice where we reasonably consider it necessary — for a suspected breach of these terms, at Stripe’s request, where the law requires it, or to protect entrants or other organisers. We may remove or hide events, disable paid entry, cancel registrations and send refund instructions under section 7, suspend or close your organiser account, and report the matter to Stripe, the police or a regulator.
- We are not liable for any loss caused by action we take in good faith under this section.
- You may stop charging entry fees at any time. Your obligations for entries already taken — refunds, chargebacks, records, tax and indemnity — continue after you stop and after your account closes.
13. Responsibility for breaches, and indemnity
You alone are responsible for your events, your entry fees, prizes and awards, refunds, chargebacks, taxes and compliance. Any breach of Stripe’s rules, card network rules or the law arising from your events or your use of paid entry is your breach, not Racket Ratings’s.
You will indemnify and hold harmless Racket Ratings and its owners, officers, employees and contractors against every claim, demand, loss, liability, damage, fine, penalty, card network assessment, Stripe fee, reserve or recovery, cost and expense (including legal costs on a full indemnity basis) arising out of or in connection with:
- your events and anything that happens at them;
- the entry fees you collect and how you use them, and any prize or award;
- refunds, disputes and chargebacks on your payments;
- your breach of these terms, the Stripe Services Agreement, card network rules or any law;
- any information you give us or Stripe that is inaccurate or incomplete; and
- any claim by an entrant, sponsor, venue, Stripe, card network, regulator or other third party relating to your events.
If Stripe or a card network charges us, fines us or restricts our account because of your events, you must reimburse us within 14 days of our demand.
14. Limits on our liability
- Racket Ratings is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or suitable for your purposes.
- To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss; for any loss of profit, revenue, business, goodwill or data; or for anything done or not done by Stripe, a card network, an entrant or anyone else at or in connection with your events.
- To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability to you arising out of or in connection with these terms or paid entry is limited to the greater of S$100 and the commission we received from your paid entries in the 12 months before the claim arose.
- Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be excluded or limited by law, including under the Unfair Contract Terms Act 1977.
15. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. When we do, we will show the new version in Organiser settings, and you must accept it before you can set an entry fee again. Changes required by Stripe or by law take effect immediately. Otherwise, entries already sold remain governed by the version in force when they were sold.
16. General
- These terms, together with Racket Ratings’s other published terms and privacy policy, are the entire agreement between you and us about paid entry. Where they conflict on paid entry, these terms prevail.
- If any part of these terms is invalid or unenforceable, the rest remains in force. A delay or failure to enforce any part is not a waiver.
- We may transfer our rights and obligations under these terms to a successor. You may not transfer yours without our written consent.
- Only you and we have rights under these terms, except that our owners, officers, employees and contractors may rely on sections 12 to 14. Otherwise, the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 2001 does not apply.
- Accepting these terms online with your typed name is your electronic signature and binds you under the Electronic Transactions Act 2010.
- These terms are written in English. If a translation differs, the English version prevails.
- These terms are governed by the laws of Singapore, and the courts of Singapore have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or in connection with them.
- Sections 5, 7 and 9 to 16 survive the end of this agreement.
- These terms are not legal, tax or financial advice to you. Take your own advice about your events.
